The Two Alexanders

Alexander the Great is always a great name.. given to one of the greatest warrior in the history of earth.  I always love this name.

At the moment, two Alexanders (Alexs) exist in my life.. Alexander the Cat and Alexander the Dog.

Alexander the Cat born more than 5 years ago.  She is Etam's daughter [Etam is the 2nd cat that adopted us after Cipoi adopted us ( You need the remember the phrase here, Cats are the one who owns us, not the other way around)]. And before we even notice, Etam was pregnant with Putu's offspring (our neighbour's male cat). Yes, we were not happy in the begining. We already have 3 cats and Etam was pregnant.  That was too much for us, without knowing 4 years later we have more than a dozen of them..Hehe. Alexander, as we call her Alex and the siblings were born in 3rd Dec 2004.  Alex's twin brother and twin sister are Jebat (aka Abang) & Olympious (aka Cik Oli) respectively. Initially I thought Alex's hair was grey in color but slowly in time she turn to be a shiny black.  It was just a normal transformation process for any kitten i guess.

"Where? where does it say "No peeing'?"

The Black Alex

Alex the Cat was named Alexander because we thought she was a male cat in the first place, came from the great Alexander the Great.  She was supposed to be named as Cleopatra, but it was too late to change the name when we realized that she was a girl.  She already like herself as Alexander.  And slowly we started to realized that her character also suits her wrongly given name.  She was very rough. she climbs all the time. she used our curtains as a ladder to climb. She was too lazy to groom herself like most cats do but she will go to others to ask them to groom her. She used our carpet to wipe het butt every now and then, ignoring our scolding. She only drank from tap and pail (with all her four legs widely open on top of the pail), not from the drinking bowl as others did.  She always love high place, i guess because she wants the best view among all. Today, at 5 years old, nothing much change about Alexander, she is still doing the same things. Sometimes i wonder, is it the name or color to be blamed? :-)

"Cant you see i'm busy? Nope, there's no room for you- it's all mine."

The recent photos of Alex

The story about Alexander the dog began few months ago.. she was abandoned alone by her mother when she barely understand enough how to survive.  She was a very tiny puppy when we start to notice her. She was abandoned in between Cik Kentang & my house, so we take turn to feed her since.  We decided to name her Alexander too as she has same hair colour as Alexander the Cat; ie Black.

Alexander the Dog is a very shy dog, and that is the reason why i didnt manage to capture her photos until few days ago (and it was from far, that's why the output of the photos are blur as i have to zoom in to the maximum).  She never came nearby me, let alone rub on me (maybe she understands that we are muslims).  She will wait patiently for us and sometimes if she was overjoyed to see us, she will jump around while seeing us.  There are times that I wish that I can keep her for good or at least I can stroke her to let her know that i really care about her, but I cant.  Today, Alex the Dog turn to be a very fine young lady and she starts to have friends to play with and I believe one day she will find her soul mate.  But deep inside,  I also hope one day somebody will save her, as she deserve to have a roof to protect her from sun and rain.

"How many times do i have to say it? No Papparazi please"

After studying both Alexs, i have come to the conclusion. It is not the name that influence somebody's character (not in pet at least), and it's also not the color of their hair it's made them be what they are, but it's the individual herself/himself.  In Alex the Cat case, it might be the genetic that she inherited from her mother & i must admit that Cik kentang & I spoiled her too much.  And to be frank, i  love her as she is now.. not more and not less than that. She is not only fun to stroke but pleasing to look at and great to have around.  For Alex the Dog, nothing to be complained.. she's just greatttt..
